What Are You Doing with What Jesus Taught You?

“Therefore, Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you and be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

I want to focus on the phrase, “teach these new disciples to obey all the commands.” In Matthew 22, Jesus narrows all of the commands down to two:

  1. “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment.

  2. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This second command is equally important.

Jesus tells us that the entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.

As followers of Christ, we have a responsibility not only to live out these commands ourselves, but also to teach them to those within our sphere of influence. Those of us who have been pursuing Christ know that this journey is simple in its message, but not always easy in practice. It requires a full commitment to Christ—caring for and supporting one another while remaining relentless in sharing God’s love with those whose eyes have not yet been opened to it.

I will leave you with two questions:

What are you doing today to strengthen your relationship with Christ?

And how are you sharing what Jesus has taught you with those within your sphere of influence?

God Bless,

Will Doss
