Being the hobby gardener that I am, I’ve dug lots of holes, planted lots of flowers and vegetables and sown a whole lot of seeds - successfully AND very unsuccessfully. What I’ve found is that when I prepare the soil, the garden grows gorgeously.
Right now, my garden is entering into a season of “rest.” However, the only thing it’s not doing is growing flowers and vegetables. It’s being covered, mulched and doused with soil conditioner & microbes so that it can build a beautiful, nutrient-dense soil.
What’s down deep holds the responsibility for how plentiful the garden produces once the actual seeds are sown. Soil that has been used up over and over and never nourished is going to grow lots of weeds that become an obstacle to what I really want. Soil that has been nourished, rested and replenished yields gorgeous gains, better fruiting, and bigger plants that hinder those obstacles.
The soil holds the key - the fruit is just the outward evidence of what’s going on underneath.
It’s not hard to have a beautiful garden or life. Knowing what you want, and even more, knowing what God wants, is one of the first steps. (Here’s a little hint: God always wants more than we can imagine).
It takes some tending with nourishment (the Word), rest (releasing what is limiting you), and replenishment (accepting the new life in Him).
With so much love,
Christie Arnold
