Going From Promise to Inheritance

The book of Book of Joshua is a powerful reminder that God does not just make promises—He leads His people into fulfillment. Israel had been given the promise of the Promised Land long before they ever stepped into it. The promise was real, but there was still a process between what God said and what they experienced.

That process is what we are exploring in this series.

So often, we love the idea of promises, but we become frustrated by the journey. We want immediate fulfillment, but throughout Scripture, God consistently works through principles that prepare us to carry what He has promised. In Joshua, we see that the people of God had to learn obedience, courage, faith, perseverance, consecration, and trust. None of those things were complicated, but every one of them was necessary.

Before Jericho fell, they had to march. Before the Jordan parted, they had to step into the water. Before they possessed the land, they had to leave the wilderness mindset behind.

The same is true for us today.

There are moments when we know God has spoken something over our lives—a calling, restoration, healing, purpose, peace, provision, or breakthrough—but there is often a journey between the promise and the inheritance. In that journey, God develops our character, strengthens our faith, and teaches us to trust Him fully.

The encouraging part is this: God never abandons His promises. What He speaks, He intends to fulfill. Our responsibility is to stay faithful to the principles He gives us along the way. Sometimes it is as simple as obedience in small things, consistency in prayer, keeping the right attitude, or refusing to quit.

Many people miss what God is doing because they are looking for something dramatic, while God is working through simple acts of faithfulness. Often, one small truth applied consistently can completely change the direction of a person’s life.

That is why this journey through Joshua matters so much. Every chapter reveals principles that move people from wandering to possessing.

Keep joining us each Sunday. You never know how one word from God could open the door to everything He has prepared for you.

Blessings,

Buren Goss
