Many times the noise around us is very distracting. It can keep us unfocussed on a task or job that needs to be done. It allows us to stay in a life of being confused and constantly striving for answers to our needs. In our busy day we sometimes find it difficult allowing ourselves to be silent. Perhaps it is because once we become silent we are made aware of many things in our lives that we are trying to forget. Yet it is in that very moment when there is no sound that God is able to speak deep into our hearts and we find peace to our situation. The person who said, “Silence is Golden” truly knew what they were speaking about. For many treasures are discovered in our silence. Don’t be afraid to be quiet before the Lord. When you do, you will find Him, and He will comfort you and give you direction in your life. Make it a habit in your life to be silent and listen, perhaps God will speak to you also in that quiet still voice as He did to Elijah as he hid in the cleft of the rock thinking he could escape the pressures of life. When you become silent before Him, you are able to listen to Him!
