The Simple Gift!

Posted on 01-14-2010
This was the second year that our family exchanged personal letters rather than gifts at Christmas.

Doug keeps up with the name rotations and lets us all know whom we will write to next Christmas. From the youngest to the oldest each letter reflected hearts full of love and appreciation for each other. This year there was not a dry eye in the room as each person read their letters their assigned family member. What a blessing to be in a room with the whole family sharing intimately from their hearts. Some of us were so emotional that someone else had to finish reading the letter. Once read the letter was presented to the person. What a special gift- they are priceless!

It’s hard to have to sit down and tell someone you love so much what they mean to you. Wading through all the life experiences to condense it down to a few thoughts is not easy. But in the end it’s the little things that we do instinctively out of love that mean the most to others. It’s hardly ever related to a “thing” given; it’s almost always something said or done together that means the most. Standing together in tough times and just being there for each other- that’s family.

Did I have a great holiday season? Yes I did! When everyone comes home, enjoys a meal together and shares from their heart and spends the evening together- life is good. I look forward to next Christmas (2010) and pray that each of you reading this blog will have a special Christmas also. God bless.
