The Last Enemy

Posted on 02-04-2010
Twelve years ago our family, friends, Terry and I placed our 27 years old sons’ body in the ground. We new the real Josh (his spirit and soul), was in the arms of Jesus.

The pain of lost was overwhelming, would there ever be a day I did not cry.

I would hold Joshua ‘s baby son, Karsten in my arms, feel his warm body, his soft skin, and look at his wonderful smile, and know our son in this world would not enjoy that pleasure. I gave all the love I could to that little boy and the family drew him into their hearts.

Death entered the world because of sin. When Adam sinned, death came to all human beings. However, one man, Jesus, brought the promise of resurrection from the dead. He accomplished this by becoming human, dying, and then rising again. Someday in God’s new creation, death itself will be destroyed; “the last enemy that will be destroyed is death” (1Cor. 15:26) until then human beings will die, but for believers, death is not feared, for it is a gateway to eternal life with God.

I still cry at times. I am still looking into Karsten’s face (that looks so much like Joshua’s) and enjoying his smile.

I know that Josh is enjoying friends and family now, but more than that, he is with Jesus.

Josh has faced his last enemy and won!
