Memories

The most treasured treasures, I believe, are memories. They enable us to remember all of the special moments we have shared with family and friends.

I have noticed of late how often I quote something my Dad said.  I was blessed to have a wonderful father who loved his family more than anything else on earth.  He was such a great example of what a father should be.  He was faithful, he was a good provider, and he was a good steward over what God gave him.  I miss him very much.
*Pause – Sorry.  I have to get it together for a moment.
Daddy was a jack of all trades.  He could do just about anything.  He was a mechanic, a plumber, an electrician, and best of all, a preacher.  He was truly what we mean when we say, “Hey, Preacher!”  (That one is for Alan, Doug, and Curtis.)
He was a great preacher of the Gospels.  I’ve never known anyone who could make a Gospel story become so alive.  My favorite memory of his preaching is the story of the lame man brought to Peter’s Mother-In-Law’s house and the tearing off of the roof to get him to Jesus.  Wow!  He really brought it that Sunday.
Daddy and I would spend hours discussing scriptures and what they mean.  But our relationship was balanced between spiritual discussions and just talking and having fun.
If there is anything keeping you from a healthy relationship with your father, then tear off the roof, and bring it to Jesus.  Tell your parents today how much you love and appreciate them.  A day will come when that opportunity will be gone.
