Colossians 1:14 God has purchased our freedom with His blood and has forgiven all our sins.
Galatians 5:1 So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
The first two scriptures are easier to grasp, at times, than the latter. The third, “…and the truth will set you free,” when applied to life circumstances, can be difficult to grab hold of. We believe lies about who we are. We let depression, envy, stress, among other things, rob us of our identity. We let our feelings of self-doubt create a fog that prevents us from seeing ourselves the way God sees us. I’ve heard it said “a lie believed as truth will affect you as thought it is true.”
When we finally read His Word and allow it to penetrate our hearts, His Truth sets us free from those lies. And, we can stand on His Word knowing that we aren’t who people say we are. We are who God says we are. When we walk in THAT truth, we are truly free.
Can you recognize any identity thieves in your life? Take them to the cross, and embrace what God says about you.You were bought with a price. Walk in that freedom!
