"Change"

Posted on 10-08-2009

As I sit in my rocking chair gazing out the kitchen window, I am aware of the seasonal change. The humming birds are leaving for their winter home, the cardinal’s plumage is turning bright red and the leaves from the crape mettle tree are floating to the grown.

The world outside my kitchen window is in the process of change. When I look at my world, I identify with change. I am very conscious of physical changes in my body and Terry’s. How our children’s lives are in change if it is physical, emotional or financial. The grandchildren are growing up, going to school, college, marriage, and traveling to different parts of the world.

Today Terry and I spent three hours with our son Scott. Scott had a severe accident a few weeks ago and will not be able to put his feet on the floor the next four weeks. Scott has already spent many weeks in that chair.  Scott and Lisa, his wife, trust in God to meet all of their needs, they are at peace. Scott sat in his wheel chair today with tears in his eyes telling me how good God is all the time. I stay in awe of  Scott, Lisa and ALL of my children; their lives are not without problems and challenges. The words “In God We Trust” is not just words on the money, I see that in their lives.  Life is all about change, A little scary for me at times, as it must be for most of you. God knew that about me. He has provided a remedy for my fear, His presence and love.  God is repeatedly telling me how much He loves me and cares about my life.

I read on face book about Barbara Goss snuggling with her granddaughter. I loved snuggling with my children and grandchildren. Those were wonderful times. Time has passed and bodies are bigger and I am no longer their main source of comfort, safety, peace and hope. They know their Heavenly Father personally and snuggle with Him. I snuggle in the Fathers arms. I run to those arms. I know the character of God; He is always good, and available.

In the scriptures, I read, “He sent His son to take my punishment for sin.” His Holy Sprit empowers me to live life in peace, love Him and others and believe what He says. Zephaniah 3:13 tells us, “no one shall make us afraid.”  Zephaniah 3:17 - "The Lord your God is in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”  That sounds like snuggling to me. God’s lap is big enough, strong enough, and willing to hold you. Today and every day is a snuggling day. Life is about change!
