Some say I do not look my age, and I appreciate their kindness, because I know it’s true! Ha!! I really do want to believe them, because I do not feel this age either. Have you noticed that I am avoiding the word “OLD”?
I think I have some good genes in my family. My mother lived to age 95, and two grandmothers on my mother’s side of the family lived to be over 100. Linda keeps telling me that we must “exercise and eat right”! But I believe it is “in the genes”!
For me, this birthday was a time for reflection. The family and a few friends celebrated my birthday and after a little prodding, (not by me) everyone had kind things to say about me. I really appreciated those spoken words, because most times we do not get around to expressing ourselves about our loved ones, except at funerals.
I have had a long and wonderful life. I have a beautiful wife, and beautiful children and grandchildren. Linda and I have been truly blessed all of our lives. Now it hasn’t been rosy all the time, there have been a few ups and downs, but for the great majority of the time, life has been very good.
Linda and I chose early in our lives that we would serve God by serving his people. We have been members of a church since before we were married in 1961. It has been a joy and a privilege to be involved with church folks practically all of our lives, especially with the friends and family that we now enjoy at Eagles Way.
Life is a choice……we choose each day whom we will serve, either God or mammon.
Linda and I have a sign on an entrance door at our house. It reads, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
If you have not already done so, choose this day whom you will serve. I trust that it will be Jesus Christ.
Are you ready? I was age SEVENTY on April 30. But, please don’t tell ANYONE!
