"All He Does Is Throw Strikes!"

I love the Atlanta Braves.  I was 3 years old when they came to town.  My Dad took me to a few games, but I had much older brothers and they took me fairly often.

They were awful for years.  When Marsha and started dating in the fall of 1990, she would get tickled and say “why do you watch those clowns?’.  I told her they are fixing to take off you wait and see. I was crazy about Hank Aaron, Joe Torre, Dusty Baker, Phil Niekro, Ralph Garr.  I could keep going but you get he point.

My favorite pitcher they ever had was Greg Maddux. Greg was 6 feet, about 180 lbs.  he looked like the most mild-mannered, unimposing pitcher you ever saw.  On his best days he wouldn’t strike you out with a blazing fastball.  He could barely throw it 88 mph.; but he could throw it wherever he wanted to. He had CONTROL.  He’d out think opposing batters and keep them on their heels. Is it going to be high and tight, or low and away?  They never knew.

He just retired last year. You’ll see him in the hall of fame in two years.  He won like 320 something games.

Very calm personality. (At Peace), Not flashy,(Very Humble), Very controlled,(walks in the spirit), Outsmarts the opposing batter, (wise as a serpent, harmless as a dove).  Baseball announcers used to say, “all he does is throw strikes”.

Sounds like a real good friend and Pastor of ours.  Sounds like Will Doss.
Will and Jennifer, This congregation loves and appreciates you!!! Thank you both.
